Placement Test: English As Second LanguageAll ESL (English as a Second Language) students who wish to register for any ESL course must take the ESL Placement Test. Students who score 71 to 75 on the ESL reading test are advised that they may take the English (non-ESL) Placement Test. Sample test questions are available (PDF). The ESL Placement Test is a Computerized Test. Test consists of multiple choice questions and essay. ESL test may be retaken after one year. Results have no expiration date. Bring photo ID, several #2 wood pencils and know their De Anza 8-digit Student ID Number. Students are advised to test well in advance of registration. Results of test may take up to 3 weeks. Computerized Testing Test dates and times are as follows: (Test offered Monday thru Thursday and posted Saturdays)
* Testing Office and Testing Lab CLOSED for holidays: Friday, August 29 & Monday, September 1. * Testing Office and Testing Lab CLOSED Thursday, September 4 & Friday, September 5. SCS 143 is on first floor in Student and Community Services Building located on Stevens Creek side of campus. See campus map. Seating is limited. Students seated first come basis.
