Getting started with the
2013 & 2014 State Champions!
How to Join the Team
During the Fall quarter, the team will meet in the Badminton Techniques class, PE 32B, scheduled for Thursday at 7:30 PM and Saturdays at 9:00 AM. The class ID number is CRN 21873 and it appear in the Fall schedule of classes. Come to class in the first week and we can add you (the class shows full, but it isn't). Team candidates should be attending at least one or both workouts each week -- each will last 90 -120 minutes, depending on how much we play that night. There will be one-two days during the quarter with tournaments with other schools and team candidates are encouraged to enter tournaments (like the UC Davis Fall Open) on their own and with teammates. In order to participate in any intercollegiate competition, athletes must complete a pre-participation physical. The physicals will occur on the week of Monday, September 26th in the evening. More details will be available in the first meetings of Badminton Techniques in the first week of the Fall Quarter
First-Time intercollegiate athletes (freshman and transfers) will take PE 99 - Orientation to Athletics, 1 unit conducted over 3-4 days and is conducted late in the Fall or early in the WInter quarter.
For the Winter Quarter enroll in Intercollegiate Badminton and contact Coach Mark for the specific training schedule.
In the Winter quarter the team trains 2-3 evenings per week (T-TH-SU), shifting to Mon-Thu once the basketball season ends in late February.
Scrimmages and pre-season tournaments commence in February with Coast Conference play running mid-March through early May. The State Championships are the second weekend of May.
