Shannon joined the sports medicine team at De Anza College in 1986. She always knew that working at a community college was the best place for her because it would give her the opportunity to work with a variety of men’s and women’s sports. In the years leading up to working at De Anza College, Shannon was the Assistant Athletic Trainer at West Valley College and Los Gatos High School.
In 1989, Shannon began volunteering for the Justin Boots Sports Medicine Team to provide medical coverage during professional rodeo events including the California Rodeo and PBR, the Grand National Rodeo, and the Livermore Rodeo. She continues to volunteer her time as often as she can.
In addition to her duties at De Anza College, Shannon is also an active member of the California Community College Athletic Trainers’ Association (CCCATA), was the CCCATA Vice President – North from 1997-2003, and was the CCCATA President from 2003-2005. Shannon was also a member of the California Community College Athletic Association (CCCAA) management council from 1999 to 2005. Shannon was named CCCATA Athletic Trainer of the Year in 2005.
Shannon’s knowledge and skills are an invaluable asset and her passion for athletic and academic success is evident in every student-athlete she works with. In her free time, Shannon enjoys being outdoors, tending to all of her animals, and spending time with family.
Steven joined the sports medicine team at De Anza College in 2014. Prior to coming to De Anza, Steven was an Assistant Athletic Trainer at Santa Clara University and Medical Assistant to Dr. Michael Dillingham at Sports, Orthopedic, and Rehabilitation Medicine Associates (SOAR).
While at Santa Clara University, Steven was responsible for the care of the women’s basketball team, men’s soccer team, and the men’s and women’s cross-country teams. He also assisted in the treatment and care for all of SCU’s 400+ student-athletes. At SOAR, he expanded his knowledge of orthopedic injury, biomechanics, and post-surgical treatment and rehabilitation. As an alumnus of De Anza College, Steven is excited to be back and looks forward to helping our student-athletes reach their athletic and academic potential.Steven’s upbeat personality and desire to ensure his student-athletes understand their ailments leads to a fun, educational environment in the athletic training room. When not at work, Steven enjoys spending time with his friends and family, mountain biking, and hiking.
