 ILLUSTRATE YOUR OWN STORY

This class will show students how to
write a short story and then use basic drawing skills to illustrate their work, using both traditional and digital media. No previous writing or drawing experience is necessary.
Instructor: Viviana Leija-Sysak is a visual artist who has worked for television production companies and as an art instructor in a variety of media, from drawing to video animation.
Class requirements: Tablet, laptop
or desktop computer with internet capability; two digital apps (available free for download after registration). A digital stylus is suggested, but not mandatory.

Session 1: Aug. 22 and 29, Sept. 5, 12, 19 and 26, Oct. 3 and 10 (eight Saturdays), 12:30-1:30 p.m.

iOS MOBILE DEVELOPMENT
– ADVANCED LEVEL

Students in this course will build on their iOS development knowledge while creating more sophisticated apps. This course assumes students have a good
understanding of coding, object-oriented programming and wireframes. The instructor will review iOS development skills in the first few classes, before moving on to such topics as developing drag-and-drop UI elements with pure code, new versions of Swift and the
use of RESTful APIs and Core Data. Students will learn how to pick the best technologies for their projects and how to choose between different design approaches. By the end of the course, students will learn about automated UI and unit testing, monitoring memory management and how to release mobile apps for real-world users.
Instructor: Guillermo Colin has a bachelor’s degree in software engineering from San José State University and has taught for Coding Dojo, De Anza College Academy, and other computer science tutoring programs. He loves coding and developing iOS mobile apps in his spare time, and sharing computer science knowledge with others.
Class requirements: Must be age 14 or older; must have an iOS or MacOS device.

iOS MOBILE DEVELOPMENT
– BEGINNING TO
INTERMEDIATE LEVEL

This course will teach students how
to build amazing iOS mobile apps, including functional prototypes that
will be compatible with iPhones and iPads! Students will learn the basics of using Xcode and UI/UX design, while practicing with user interface elements and connecting those elements to code. Students will also be introduced to mobile app design patterns and current topics such as monitoring memory management. Finally, students will learn how to release apps through the Apple App Store.
