Instructor: Ahmad Khanssari has a bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering from San José State University and worked as a system design engineer in the electronics industry. He subsequently earned an MBA and a master’s degree in education from the University of Southern California. He has taught mathematics for six years.

Students in this course will learn how
to create a toolkit of strategies and resources they can use to support their educational, social and emotional needs. Students will plan, construct and use these tools to help with such challenges as homework, classwork, taking tests and reducing stress.
Instructor: Lisa Carrell has taught
growth mindset methods since 2006 and received the Silicon Valley Education Foundation’s prestigious “Teacher of
the Year” award in 2017. She instructs students from ages 5 to 95 on using these methods to continuously strengthen their abilities and never give up.

This course will help each student prepare an individualized plan for SAT preparation, while providing extensive opportunities to practice for the Writing and Language, Reading and Essay sections of the test. Students will learn and practice strategies for all types of questions they may encounter. The class also covers planning for vocabulary enhancement and provides class time for skills development, including evidence- based interpretation, applying context in analysis, and understanding organization and structure for sentences, passages and essays.
Instructor: Jonathan Stiles has a master’s degree in teaching from Bethany University and has earned two teaching credentials. He has taught students in grades 4-12 for more than a decade.
