Youth Voices United for Change!
Youth Voices United for Change (YVUC) is an annual youth leadership conference planned by De Anza College students for local high school students every fall quarter in November.
Every year YVUC brings 300 high school students together on the De Anza campus to motivate, educate, and involve young people to create positive community changes in their lives, schools, and local neighborhoods.
1. Provide Leadership opportunities for De Anza students to motivate youth to become civically engaged community members.
2. To connect youth to local community organizations and De Anza student groups such as MYE (Mentors for Youth Empowerment) in order to help create change in their communities.
3. Encourage youth from underserved populations to see the benefits of attending De Anza College and other institutions of higher education.
This year’s focus is empowerment, expression, and change through SOCIAL JUSTICE. Our workshops and speakers will range from environmental advocates to hip hop MCs who will address how various modes of communication can be used as a medium for social justice and community change.
Breakfast, lunch and transportation will be provided!
