How to Become a YVUC Volunteer
Are you looking for a great leadership opportunity, ways to get involved in the community, or a project to fulfill those service learning hours for a class?
The Youth Voices United for Change conference planning committee is still looking for De Anza students to help out with the conference and youth mentoring program.
Become a Community Action Network (CAN) Group Leader
We will have CAN (community action network) group discussions in the second part of the conference where two De Anza student will facilitate a dialogue with each high school group on the following:
If you are interested, please attend one of the volunteer training sessions before the conference.
We will train you on how to engage with high school students and facilitate a discussion. This is an important leadership role and we know you would be terrific, so we hope to see you soon!
Volunteer Training Schedule
Attendance at one volunteer training is required in order to volunteer on the day of the event. All sessions will be held in the East Cottage Resource Center.
Volunteering Beyond the YVUC Conference
If you are interested in mentoring high school students for college prep and community engagement projects (starting winter quarter), please participate as a CAN group leader during the conference.
CAN group leaders will facilitate discussion at the end of the conference around reflection on what high school participants have learned and identifying issues they might want to address at their high schools or communities.
YVUC will be the launching the mentoring program at the high schools after the conference.
