How to Apply for DSS Services

  1. Be registered as a De Anza College student and obtain your College Wide Identification (CWID) number
  2. Have a qualified disability verified by an approved professional
  3. Have a disability that results in an educational limitation
  4. Meet with a DSS Counselor or LD Specialist to establish an Academic Accommodation Plan (AAP)

Students who have learning disabilities are served by Learning Disability Support but the process to apply for DSPS services is the same.


New and Returning Students

  1. Complete and submit the online DSPS Application for Services
  2. A DSPS staff member will contact you to set up an appointment with a DSS  Counselor or LD Specialist.


Information for DSS students about taking placement tests

If you are unsure about whether you should take Placement Tests or if you will need accommodations to do so, discuss this with your DSS Counselor or LD Specialist.



Continuing Students

  1. Discuss services with the DSS  Counselor or LD Specialist or at the quarterly Priority Registration appointment.

  2. To request any changes or additional service during the quarter, schedule an appointment with a DSS  Counselor or LD Specialist.


Deaf and hard of hearing students who request interpreting or captioning services for classes must contact Deaf and Hard of Hearing Services (DHHS)
