Mammoths: The Lords of the Ice Age

1/22/2019

6:00 pm to 9:00 pm

This class will introduce students to the woolly mammoths of the last ice age and their warm-climate cousins, the Columbian mammoths – including one discovered in Castroville, California. Students will learn about human interaction with mammoths, and consider the potential for resurrecting these amazing creatures through cloning. The instructor was one of the first two Western researchers to examine the most intact frozen woolly mammoth ever found – 300 miles above the Arctic Circle, in Siberia.
