  • Get help as needed to understand the errors you made on the practice quiz.
  • On Wed. or Thurs. we will go over the quiz in class, as time  permits.

    • In 11:30 class we started example D but did not finish it.
    • In 12:30 class we just finished example C and did not start example D
  • Over the weekend, based on what we did in class, you should be able to do hypothesis tests for means (mu, average) with the alternate hypothesis containing > or < (this is a "one tail test"), similar to examples B and C.
  • You should also be able to do a hypothesis test for proportions with alternate hypothesis containing > or < (one tail test), which is similar to example A (knee surgery example).
  • We did not yet complete any hypothesis tests for "two tailed tests" with "does not equal" in the alternate hypothesis.
    • Example D on Monday will be a proportion test with "does not equal" in the alternate hypothesis.
    • You are not yet able to do homework for "does not equal" in the alternate hypothesis unless you are "working ahead" of where we are in class.
  • Also if you are not comfortable enough yet with proportion tests, you can wait for proportion homework until after we do example D in class.
  • Your homework is due Wed 3/6 and your quiz is Thurs 3/7.  The quiz will contain a complete hypothesis test of a mean, one tailed.  It will also ask questions for setting up hypotheses and interpreting type 1 and type 2 errors in context of a word problem.

If you were absent on any days from Tuesday through Friday:

  • You need to read the textbook and visit the tutorial center S43 to catch up on the hypothesis testing concepts and skills that you missed.
  • Everything for the rest of the quarter builds on this basic concept, so its important to not "let it go", or future work won't make sense to you.

***You can not just decide to take the final exam with a different class section. If you just decide to show up at the final exam time for a different class section instead of your own official class section, there may not be a copy of the final exam there for you to take the exam, which may result in a failing grade or may result in a lengthy delay in your grade being resolved that could affect your ability to remain enrolled in some of your spring quarter classes.
****The final exam dates have been posted in the syllabus for each class section since the beginning of the quarter.  They have also been available to look up on the college website since the beginning of the quarter as well.

Information for Final Exam:

  • If you want to see your final exam after it is graded, you need to make a specific appointment with me - I am not teaching spring quarter so we'd have to make specific arrangements for me to come to campus to meet you when I am able to - I won't be available if you just drop by.  If you come to see your final exam, you can look at it and ask questions about it, but you can not take pictures of it and can not keep the exam paper and can not keep the exam parscore form.
