DISCLAIMER: Due to campus events and meetings, counseling and advising services may be limited or not always available. See Counseling Front Desk for the most current and up-to-date schedule.
Welcome to my faculty webpage! Please feel free to explore the links provided on the left hand margin designed to help students successfully navigate through the community college system.
I am a full-time community college counselor in the Counseling Center located on the second floor in the Student & Community Services (SCS) building. Counselors provide academic, career, and personal counseling services to assist students in completing their educational goal.
As an instructional faculty member, I teach Human Development, Career Life Planning, and Counseling courses. The courses I teach are listed on the left hand margin.
I am actively involved on governance teams on-campus. I serve as a faculty committee member for both the Equity Action Council and the Student Services Planning Budget Team (SSPBT). I am also on the LGBT Task Force.
I have been with De Anza College since 2006 in various roles including Academic Advisor and Financial Aid Outreach Assistant. I have been a Student Success & Retention Services (SSRS) Counselor, as well as have coordinated both the SSRS Peer Advisors and the Foster Youth Summer Bridge program. I'm still part of the outreach team at De Anza and actively involved in our student leadership/outreach conferences.
Before coming to De Anza College, I was a Financial Aid Technician for Skyline College (San Bruno, CA) and EOPS Program Services Coordinator for the College of San Mateo (San Mateo, CA). My previous employment also includes 9 years with the San Diego County Office of Education working as a Friday Night Live Mentoring Program Coordinator.
“We’ve bought into the idea that education is about training and “success”, defined monetarily, rather than learning to think critically and to challenge. We should not forget that the true purpose of education is to make minds, not careers." -- Chris Hedges
