Welcome                                               Bienvenidos

"Education either functions as an instrument which is used to facilitate integration of the younger generation into the logic of the present system and bring about conformity or it becomes the practice of freedom, the means by which men and women deal critically and creatively with reality and discover how to participate in the transformation of their world." ~Paulo Freire

Bienvenidos to my sitio!

I joined the De Anza College Child Development and Education Department in 2000. I am a mother of two children, José and Joel. I am actively involved in our community advocating for children and families and working towards providing educational opportunities and access for disenfranchised communities.

I teach Child, Family and Community Interrelationships, Foundations of ECE, Exceptional Children, Partnerships with Families in ECE and Observation and Assessment of the Young Child. Currently, I am the Department's Chair available to assist you with advising and connecting with community resources.
