DIANA FLEMING has been a full-time instructor with the Language Arts Division of De Anza College since 2000. She teaches college composition courses--at both Introduction and Intermediate levels--as well as literature courses and Basic Skills-level writing. Assigned readings tend to focus on themes of ethnic and cultural identities; socio-economic influences; gender studies; feminist perspectives; historical literary critical theory; and psychological influences and self-esteem.  She also advises and coaches her students on Transfer Student College Application writing responses.

Her various past, and current, involvements include:  Adelante Bridge Program Instructor at San Jose City College; APASA (Asian Pacific Staff Association member); English Department Hiring Committee member; Equal Opportunity Hiring Representative for other departments; and Tenure Chairperson roles.  Her most recent Professional Development research project centered on Multilingual Student Writing.  She has studied Basic Mandarin and French.

When not teaching, Instructor Fleming enjoys spending time with her husband and son. Her hobbies and interests include interior design and styling; fashion history and wardrobe styling; film studies; enjoying various cuisines; and of course, reading literature.
