This assignment revolves around the premier screening of the film Asian American Voices: Shaping Silicon Valley, Strengthening Community, and Sharing Hope, which was produced by Asian Americans for Community Involvement.

Note: This event can count for community service learning hours.  See me if you need more material for your community service learning reflection.

Part I. Attend the premier on the evening of Thursday, March 4th (the event announcement is below).

Part II. Do a one to two page write-up that you will submit over e-mail.

Premier Screening of AACI's Asian American Voices: Shaping Silicon Valley, Strengthening Community, and Sharing Hope, with dinner, policy briefs, and small group discussions.

  • Premier Screening: AACI's "Asian American Voices" is a documentary that follows the successes, hardships, and hopes of three immigrants in Silicon Valley working to shape the community.
  • Presentation & Dialogue: Engage with policy advocates on issues that affect all immigrant communities:
    • State budget cuts
    • Health care reform
    • Immigrant support services
