This year will be both earlier and a shorter day than usual. We hope you can join us for a morning welcome, 2 breakout sessions, and an afternoon community closing over lunch. To help us with our planning, please fill out the form below to let us know if and how you will attend. Though the majority of the day will be geared for in-person attendees, there will be one hybrid-friendly workshop option during each breakout session that online attendees can choose from. In-person attendees especially - please RSVP as soon as possible so we can ensure we have enough food!

Session 1 Breakout

  • Making Documents Accessible (Hyflex - Room 3201 and online via Zoom)
    • Facilitator: Helen Graves (Foothill)
    • Description: While HTML pages are always the best environment for those using screen reader and mobile devices, at times there may be a valid reason to make use of external documents (Word, PowerPoint, PDF). In this session, we’ll go through how to address accessibility in each of the different formats, plus plenty of time for questions. You’ll leave with a solid understanding of how to create accessible documents.

  • Anatomy of Your Paystub + Intro to Payroll Website/App (Room 3402)
    • Facilitator: Nancy Chao (Central Services)
    • We will go over what is on a FHDA paystub and the Banner paystub. We will also visit the Payroll Website and Payroll APP to explore what resources it contains and how to use them.
  • Rising Scholars & Supporting Justice-Impacted Students (Room 3204)
    • Facilitators: Jim Nguyen and Jesus Ruelas (De Anza)
    • Learn about De Anza's Rising Scholars program and ways you can support students who were previously incarcerated or had other experiences with the criminal justice system.
  • Exploring Equity Data with Precision Campus (Room 3101)
    • Doreen Finkelstein (Foothill)
    • Classified professionals have access to Precision Campus, a data resource available through MyPortal.  But have you ever used it?  This workshop will show you how to navigate Precision Campus to find a piece of data, with a focus on equity data.   We will then discuss the implications of our equity data, including brainstorming what we as classified professionals can do to reduce equity gaps.  Bring a tablet or a laptop if you have one!

    • Do you remember that whirlwind feeling when you were new to the district? So much information and brain overload. Do you feel like you can’t remember anything from your District HR New Hire Orientation? Here is your chance to have a refresher!  This is a great opportunity for you to join us and ask your need to know.

  • Saving for Your Retirement with 403(b) (Room 3402)
    • Facilitator: Nancy Chao (Central Services)
    • This is a review of options to save for your Retirement in addition to Social Security, CalPERS/CalSTRS with the District sponsored plans -Tax Shelter Annuities (403b) and or Deferred Comp Plan (457b) with tax-deferred or post-tax (Roth) options.
  • Creating Inclusive Spaces for LGBTQ+ Students (Room 3204)
    • Facilitator: Jamie Pelusi (De Anza)
    • The training will cover foundational knowledge around diversity of gender and sexual orientation, current issues that impact our LGBTQ+ students, and recommendations and support for creating more inclusive spaces.
  • PGA & PDL: Resources for your Professional Development (Room 3101)
    • Facilitator: Phuong Tran (Foothill)
    • Learn about the Professional Growth Award (PGA), Professional Development Leave (PDL) and how to apply for both!
