Income Tax Information for International StudentsAll F-1 visa students, whether they work or not, are required to file for U.S. income taxes. This handout: Tax Workshop Handout is designed to familiarize you with taxes forms.
Please remember: ISP staff CANNOT tell you HOW to fill your own taxes! But we do offer the following service: Free Access to Federal tax software: Glacier tax prep (formely CINTAX) The International Student Programs office @ De Anza can provide you with a password to access the Glacier tax prep (formely CINTAX) software.The software provides an easy and user-friendly way to prepare your federal tax returns online in under 20 minutes. Since there is a limit on the number of people accessing the software, international students will have to request a password in advance on a first come, first served basis. To request instructions and passwords to file your taxes, please come to the ISP Office with a photo ID Mondays - Fridays 9am - 12noon ONLY *****number of passwords is limited, so hurry in***** Glacier tax Prep - for students who worked in 2012 Glacier tax Prep - for students who did not work in 2012 Special Note:Please do not use other software packages to help you file your taxes since they are not designed to understand complex non-resident tax issues, such as tax treaties, etc. Moreover, the IRS does not currently allow Forms 1040NR and 1040NR-EZ to be filed electronically.
