To allow for greater flexibility, there is no preset calendar or show schedule for field trips. Teachers may choose their presentation from any of our current full dome show titles on any school day before June 12th, 2015.
Regular school year show times are 10:00 a.m. or 11:30 a.m. Monday to Friday.
Summer Field Trip Groups may choose a date between June 15th and July 15th, 2015
Summer show times are: 10 a.m. (Mon-Thurs) or 10 a.m. 11:30 a.m. and 1 p.m. (Fri only)
Planetarium will be closed from July 16th to September 22, 2015 for the summer break.
Shows are about 1 hour and 10 minutes in duration. Shows for younger astronomers may last less than 1 hour.
A "Tour of the Night Sky" and "Question and Answer" segment is included in every show.
The Fujitsu Planetarium is closed during school observed holidays and breaks. Field trips are only scheduled Monday to Friday - sorry no field trips scheduled evenings or weekends.
All groups must have 25 or more in attendance to reserve. Maximum seating capacity is 139 seats.
Group discount admission fee: $5 each for students, $5 each for adult chaperones, aides and teachers.
Payment is due in full the day of field trip at check-in, we accept Visa, Mastercard, Discover, School checks payable to: De Anza College Planetarium, and cash collected in one lump sum. No deposit is required to reserve a field trip show. We do not accept school P.O.’s

Provide the following information:
A confirmation/invoice, general information sheet and campus map will be sent when your reservation is placed on the field trip calendar. Groups should arrive at Planetarium building at least 10 minutes before the start of show to check-in and pay admission fees. Allow time for parking and walking to the facility from parking lots or bus drop off area. Due to the nature of our shows, and for safety, we are unable to seat late attendees once lights have been dimmed down.
Permits cost $3.00 and are valid for the entire day. All cars require parking permits, which can be purchased from yellow permit machines located on all lots. Machines accept dollar bills, coins and credit cards.
Carpools: Use the parking structure in Lot C, the planetarium building is located across the pool area opposite to parking lot C.
School busses: Drop off areas are located in either Parking Lot C near parking structure and in parking Lot E by Science Center Building. Buses are not to drop off students off the frontage road. Once students are dropped off buses may park across the street behind the Oaks shopping center.
Title 1 Schools Field Trip Project:
Thanks to the generosity of the Private Donors and Foundations, the Fujitsu Planetarium at De Anza College is able to offer a limited number of free admissions during the 2014-2015 school year to 3rd & 5th grade students from Title 1 Schools who are visiting the Planetarium with a school field trip.
Student admissions are subject to approval and availability for the field trip school year calendar and will be distributed on a first come-first serve basis until depleted. Visiting students must meet the following criteria:
Title 1 field trip admissions are currently available on a first come first serve basis. Teachers who wish to request title 1 admissions are required to submit their completed forms prior to their visit. All requests will reviewed as they are received. Incomplete requests will be returned.
Note: When donating, under the program tab, select other and then enter Planetarium.
DOs and DON'Ts
Don't use your cell phone or camera (video or picture) while the show is in progress. Flashing shoes "Flashies" distract from the presentation – students will be asked to remove them while inside or if possible we ask that they not be worn the day of field trip.
Do Keep Quiet. There are classrooms adjacent to the Planetarium, please ask students to keep their voices down while they wait to enter and after they exit the Planetarium – if your group arrives earlier than your schedule time, plan a quiet activity such as reading, while you wait. Do not bring play equipment such as jump ropes or balls on campus – we greatly appreciate your cooperation, thank you.
Do use the Eating Areas. Your group is welcome to eat their snacks or lunch on the cement quad located next to the Planetarium, the grassy area next to the library, the tables located in the campus center or at Memorial Park, which is located across the street from De Anza as there is no eating, drinking or gum chewing permitted inside the Planetarium Facility. Please plan accordingly on rainy days unfortunately all of the eating areas suggested are not covered.
