New Employee Orientation 2016 – 2017

Upon completing orientation, new faculty and staff will:

  • demonstrate an understanding of the climate, culture and vision of De Anza College and feel personally aligned with its mission.
  • identify opportunities for future engagement with the campus community and understand both the expectations and the value of their contributions.
  • recognize Professional Development and college resources that will support them through probation and tenure.

New part-time faculty are encouraged to attend a De Anza College orientation. This meeting will include a nuts-and-bolts session with an overview of the Employee Resource Guide, and an introduction to the culture and organization of De Anza College. Technology training will include an introduction to the De Anza College internet e-mail (Outlook) and portal system (for accepting your contract, downloading class lists, submitting grades on line, and communicating with your students). A Faculty Association representative will be present to talk about part-time faculty rights and benefits.

New classified professionals are encouraged to attend a De Anza College orientation. This meeting will include an introduction to the culture and organization of De Anza College, Who Are Our Students?, professional development and Professional Growth Awards, the differences between the Union and the Classified Senate, and a comprehensive tour of the campus.
