The De Anza College Puente Program is a highly successful project.

Transfer Rates

• Puente students transfer from De Anza at a much higher rate than non-Puente Latino students—61% of De Anza’s Puente students transfer within six years.

Progress toward Equity

• For historically under-served students, the Puente program increases success rates in basic skills courses, as well as persistence rates and transfer rates. Thus the Puente Program is  helping the college move toward its goal of equity in student success.

Giving Back to the Community and College

• Former Puente students from our own program who are now successful professionals and community leaders have come back to De Anza to mentor new Puente students.  This is the mark of a mature and highly successful program.
