Step 1. Apply for Admission

• After you receive your De Anza welcome letter with your student ID number, try your first-time MyPortal login.
• How to report a problem: If the CCCApply application or your MyPortal login do not work as described, please fill out the A&R Help Form.

Step 2. Take Placement Tests

• Make an appointment to take your test(s).
• INCOMING TRANSFER STUDENTS: If you've completed English/ESL, Math, Chemistry or Biology courses at another college or received qualifying scores on high school AP exams, see General Rules to Clear Prerequisites

Step 3. Attend Orientation

• Sign up for a one-hour Getting Started Workshop
  before registering for classes.
• Register for COUN 200: Orientation to College if you are seeking a degree or certificate or planning to transfer to a four-year college/university, except if you have an AA/AS degree or higher.

Step 4. Register for Classes

• Get your date to register.
• Search the online class schedule. (Check course prerequisites and course notes for special instructions)
• Log in to MyPortal to register for classes on your date to register. (Check open courses for best chances of getting into a class.)
• While you are in MyPortal, update your personal information. You will receive waitlist notification and your confirmation of enrollment by e-mail.

Step 5. Pay Your Fees

• Use the Fee Calculation Worksheet to estimate ahead of time.
• Pay fees immediately after registering. You may pay online in MyPortal or by mail, drop box or in person.
• Your classes may be dropped if you do not pay in a timely manner.
• Need help paying your fees? Contact Financial Aid.

Step 6. Attend Classes

• Be on time for the first class meeting. Otherwise, you may be dropped from the class.
• If you no longer want to be enrolled in a class, it is your responsibility to officially drop classes.
• Need help in your classes? Free academic tutorial support is available through our Student Success Center.

Step 7. Be Engaged. This Is Your Life!

• Join a club, or start one.
• Get involved in student government. Make your voice heard.
• Attend campus events. For listings, see our events calendar.
• Get your DASB card. It serves as your official photo ID for access to the library, open computer labs, the VTA Eco Pass, events and many other De Anza services.
• Go green. Learn about our sustainability programs.
