Transfer Requirements Overview - CSU

If you are planning to transfer to the CSU from De Anza College, you can improve your chances for admission and successful transfer with careful planning and course selection.  You should become with the transfer requirements for the CSU campus of your choice.  It is helpful to research college catalogs and campus Web sites, take a tour of the campus, and if possible, speak with admission representatives from the CSU prior to the application filing period.  Some admission representatives from the CSU schedule periodic visits to De Anza College.

As a prospective transfer applicant you should select courses at De Anza that will ensure that you progress towards meeting CSU degree requirements.  Understanding CSU degree requirements and focusing on completing as many of these requirements at a California community college prior to transfer will also enable you to register for upper-division coursework for your major at the CSU and ensure more timely progress towards CSU graduation.

 

If you are undecided on a major, you should focus on satisfying lower-division general education (GE) requirements first, especially for math and English.  Most of the GE courses listed on the CSUGE/Breadth and IGETC patterns are transferable to the CSU and will meet admission requirements.  However, be sure to check the ASSIST Web site for a list of possible transfer limitations to the CSU.

You should consult the official university articulation agreements between the UC campuses and De Anza College available on ASSIST to determine which courses will meet transfer requirements including those for major preparation and general education.

Students are advised to consult with a De Anza College counselor or academic adviser as early as possible to confirm your choice of classes and to develop an education plan for transfer.
