What is Guaranteed Admission (TAA/TAG)?

Guaranteed Admission is more commonly referred to as a Transfer Admission Agreement or Transfer Admission Guarantee program. A TAA/TAG is a contractual agreement between you, De Anza College, and a four-year college or university. Students who meet and maintain stated admission and major requirements are guaranteed admission to a specific four-year college or university. Students preparing to write a TAA/TAG should meet with a De Anza College counselor or academic advisor as early as possible to develop an education plan and select appropriate coursework.

Who is eligible to write a TAA/TAG?

Criteria varies by four-year college or university, but in all cases a TAA/TAG is open to resident students of California who meet and maintain the TAA/TAG eligibility requirements. International students and students who are AB 540-eligible may be able to write a TAA/TAG. Check with a counselor or advisor and consult campus-specific TAA/TAG Information Handouts for eligibility requirements and restrictions.

Students who have completed coursework at a college or university outside of the United States may be not be eligible to write a TAA/TAG at select campuses or may require additional documentation. For a UC Davis TAG, course descriptions for all postsecondary courses completed outside the U.S. must be forwarded with the international transcript. The correct name and address of each international school must be reported. Word-for-word English translations are required. Check with a counselor or advisor and consult campus-specific TAA/TAG Information Handouts for more information.

When do I write a TAA/TAG?

Deadlines for writing a TAA/TAG vary by four-year college or university. See the grid below for TAA/TAG filing periods by campus. For UC and CSU campuses, a TAA/TAG is generally written one year in advance of the transfer term (e.g. If you are transferring in Fall 2008, you will write a TAA/TAG during Fall 2007). Additionally, you will want to become familiar with the campus application filing periods, which is a separate process than the TAA/TAG filing period.

May I write more than one TAA/TAG?

At De Anza College students may choose to write only one TAA/TAG, regardless of the type of institution (CSU, UC, or independent/private). However, if you are applying to UC Santa Barbara all transfer applicants are automatically screened for TAG eligibility. No formal contract is necessary. While students at De Anza College are limited to writing one TAA/TAG, you may still apply to as many transfer institutions as you want.

What if I change my mind and decide to transfer to a different school?

TAA/TAG schools and De Anza College understand that plans change. Students who write a TAA/TAG are not obligated to transfer to the four-year college or university. If you were accepted for admission with a TAA/TAG, please notify your counselor or academic advisor at De Anza College to formally cancel your TAA/TAG.

Which institutions offer "Guaranteed Admission" (TAA/TAG) for De Anza students?

For a list of colleges and universities that offer a TAA/TAG at De Anza College, see the grid below. Minimum requirements must be met at the time the TAA/TAG is written. Check with the Counseling & Advising Center and/or the Transfer Center each term for current information about TAA/TAG requirements, deadline dates, workshops, etc.

Caution: The final responsibility for a successful transfer program rests with the student. Resources online and at De Anza College are designed to assist you in getting as accurate information as possible. This information changes frequently, however, and can impact your admission to the university. It is highly advised that you meet periodically with advisors at both De Anza College and at the prospective university to confirm your choice of classes and develop an educational plan.
