Online/Distance Learning/Professional Studies/Evening Degree Programs

Online and distance learning or professional studies/evening degree programs offer students an opportunity to earn a degree from an accredited college or university via online instruction.  Available online education options include certificates, bachelor's, master's and doctorate degree levels.  Online instruction may be available in full or hybrid (combination of online and classroom) formats.

Some four-year institutions that offer online undergraduate degree programs (distance learning, professional studies, evening degree, etc.) and that have a campus located in the greater San Francisco bay area include, but are not limited to the following:

Online undergraduate degree programs (distance learning, professional studies, evening degree, etc.) based in California or with campuses located throughout the state, include:

For additional information about distance learning education, students may visit the California Virtual Campus (CVC) Web site, which provides information about distance learning courses offered by accredited institutions in California.  The CVC does not offer courses directly.  Students can access the CVC Course Catalog and search for online courses that are available at various California institutions. Students interested in enrolling in a listed course should visit the appropriate school's Web site for additional information.

The program requirements and accreditation for each of the colleges and universities listed are subject to change.  Transfer students who are interested in pursuing an online degree should research individual campuses and programs further to determine whether or not they meet your needs and educational goals.  To learn why accreditation matters, view the Peterson's Guide article, The Importance of Accreditation.

Students are encouraged to meet as early as possible and periodically with a counselor or academic advisor both at De Anza College and at the transfer institution to confirm your choice of classes and to develop an education plan for transfer.
