Transfer Admission Agreement / Guarantee (TAA/TAG)

A Transfer Admission Agreement (TAA) or Transfer Admission Guarantee (TAG), is a contractual agreement that provides De Anza College students guaranteed admission to a participating California State University, University of California, independent or out-of-state institution.

A TAA/TAG may not be available for all majors, impacted programs, and colleges or schools at a participating TAA/TAG college or university. Students interested in completing a TAA/TAG must satisfy specified course and admission requirements in a timely manner in order to be guaranteed admission to the participating four-year institution.

Students who plan to complete a TAA/TAG are encouraged to meet with a university admissions representative (when available) or a De Anza College counselor/academic adviser at least one year prior to transferring to review TAA/TAG eligibility and requirements and to confirm course selection.

Visit the Meet with a Counselor page to view the academic services available through the De Anza College Counseling & Advising Center or stop by the Counseling & Advising Center or the Transfer Center located on the 2nd floor of the Student & Community Services Building.

Students interested in completing a TAA/TAG should review the specific eligibility requirements, terms and conditions, restrictions, and deadlines for each prospective TAA/TAG college or university or read the section below for UC TAG Applicants.

The names of participating campuses at De Anza College, minimum grade point average required for the TAA/TAG, minimum number of units required for the TAA/TAG, and the TAA/TAG contract filing periods are posted below.

UC TAG General Guidelines

  1. Students may submit only one TAG to UC.
  2. Students should review campus-specific UC TAG requirements to determine eligibility prior to starting a TAG application.
  3. Eligible students must use the UC's online UC Transfer Admission Planner to complete a UC TAG application and must submit the UC TAG application during the appropriate UC TAG application filing period.
    • Fall: September 1 - 30 (all campuses)
    • Spring: May 1 - 31 (UC Merced only)
  4. Students with an approved TAG must complete all remaining coursework and maintain the GPA requirements designated in the TAG agreement.
  5. Students should check the UC TAG Application System ("My Messages" tab) for messages and requests for information.
  6. Students may begin working on their UC admissions application as soon as the UC Online Application System opens.  Beginning in 2014, the system is set to open on August 1.
  7. Students must submit the UC admissions application during the appropriate filing period (this is a separate process than the TAG application filing period):
    • Fall Term: November 1 - 30
    • Spring Term*: July 1 - 31
(*Applies to UC Merced campus only and subject to restrictions.)
